2 structures, roughly 8 acres burned in Elk Grove fire

ELK GROVE, Calif. — A fire destroyed two buildings and burned roughly eight acres in Sacramento County Wednesday, according to the Cosumnes Fire Department.

The fire started in Elk Grove near Calvine and Bader roads around 3 p.m., according to officials. Once firefighters got on scene eight minutes later, they found the fire threatening structures, vehicles and livestock.

The fire started when temperatures hit 110 degrees and a piece of equipment on the property accidentally failed, according to officials. 

Two structures, including one home, were destroyed by the fast-moving grass fire, but no injuries were reported.
