PLACER COUNTY, Calif. — Cal Fire battled a fire that threatened structures in Placer County Friday night.

The fire had a "moderate rate of spread" and started burning near Lehi Lane in Newcastle, according to Cal Fire Nevada-Yuba-Placer. Fire officials say the fire was started by a lawnmower in dry grass.

The fire prompted multiple Evacuation Warnings and Orders, but forward progress was stopped around 7:35 p.m., according to Cal Fire.

An Evacuation Order is still in effect for Lehi Lane while officials work in the area. Evacuation Warnings for Winter Snow Court, Autumn Wind Court and Summer Star Way are still in effect.
