Original Story:
Thousands of people are without power in the Truckee area due to a fire near the California-Nevada border.
The Truckee Donner Public Utility District said their system is without power due to the Quilici Fire. Nevada Energy de-energized the transmission lines due to how close they are to it. The outage is affecting consumers in both California and Nevada.
It's not clear when power will be restored.
The fire also caused eastbound Interstate 80 to be diverted off at Highway 267 in Truckee.
Officials said a car fire spread into vegetation and has grown to about 400 acres with structures threatened. The Washoe County Sheriff's Office is helping with evacuations in the Quilici Ranch Road area.
