Silver Fire in El Dorado County | Forward progress stopped on wildfire

Officials said structures were threatened due to the fire.

GREEN SPRINGS RANCH, Calif. — Fire crews have stopped forward progress on the so-called Silver Fire in El Dorado County.

According to Cal Fire, the 37-acre wildfire was burning in the area of Silver Leaf Drive and Green Valley Drive in Green Springs Ranch.

Officials said structures were threatened due the fire, but no structures were damaged.

Evacuation Map

A shelter for people displaced by the Silver Fire is available at Cameron Park CSD, at 2205 Country Club Drive in Cameron Park.

A temporary evacuation point can be found at Placerville Library on 345 Fair Lane.

Wildfire Preps

If you live in a wildfire-prone zone, Cal Fire suggests creating a defensible space around your home. Defensible space is an area around a building in which vegetation and other debris are completely cleared. At least 100 feet is recommended.

The Department of Homeland Security suggests assembling an emergency kit that has important documents, N95 respirator masks, and supplies to grab with you if you’re forced to leave at a moment’s notice. The agency also suggests signing up for local warning system notifications and knowing your community’s evacuation plans best to prepare yourself and your family in cases of wildfires.
