Woman dies days after car crashes into pedestrians in Sacramento's Pocket neighborhood

Police believe speed and impairment contributed to the driver crashing into three pedestrians.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — One of the three pedestrians hit by a car in the Pocket area of Sacramento Thursday night has died.

According to the Sacramento Police Department, the crash happened around 6 p.m. on the 8100 block of Pocket Road.

Police say the driver of the vehicle reportedly lost control of it and hit three pedestrians. Upon arrival, they found the three victims: a woman with life-threatening injuries and two children with non-life-threatening injuries who are related to her.

The three victims were taken to the hospital along with the driver, 26-year-old Alethea Lee.

Lee was arrested after being released from the hospital for DUI and causing great bodily injury.

Then, on Sunday, detectives were told the woman Lee is accused of hitting died from her injuries. She has not been identified yet.

Police say Lee will face an additional charge of gross vehicular manslaughter, and that speed and impairment are believed to be contributing factors in the crash.
