STOCKTON, Calif — A 20-year-old woman sustained major injuries from a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 Thursday night in Stockton.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the woman was driving in a Prius northbound on the I-5 near Eight Mile Road when one of her front tires failed.
She was able to come to a stop, but due to construction in the area, the car remained in a lane, according to CHP. The woman reportedly turned on her hazard lights and exited her car.
Officials said the woman was at the front of the car when, for unknown reasons, a 2013 Camry crashed into the back of the Prius, which created a chain reaction where the front of her Prius struck the woman, causing her major injuries.
CHP also said a 2019 Toyota 4 Runner became involved in the crash, but officials are not sure how or when it crashed.
The woman who was struck was taken to a hospital. The other two drivers have only complained of pain.
