VALLEY SPRINGS, Calif. — A woman died after an accident near Valley Springs Wednesday afternoon.
The Calaveras Consolidated Fire District said they responded around 2:45 p.m. to an accident in the area of Highway 26 and Shelton Road.
Few details surrounding the crash have been released, but officials said a woman died in the accident. Calaveras Consolidated Fire identified the woman as Lily Butler, whose father was a former captain for their fire district.
"We are grieving over this loss and ask everyone to please respect their privacy at this time and keep the family in your thoughts and prayers," the fire district said.
Fire Chief Richard Dickinson said Butler was a senior at Calaveras High School and the Amador County Fair Rodeo Queen in 2022.
The other driver involved in the crash was taken to a hospital with a head injury.
