WOODLAND, Calif. — A Woodland man is facing manslaughter charges after a two-year-old was hit and killed by a truck in March.
According to the Yolo County District Attorney’s Office, charges have been filed against 34-year-old Julio Navarro-Vidrio.
He’s accused of involuntary manslaughter and child endangerment. Navarro-Video is out of custody, and he will be arraigned May 10 in Yolo County Superior Court.
CASE HISTORY
The deadly crash happened 3:45 p.m. March 16 at a 76 gas station in Woodland.
Police arrived to find 2-year-old Ailahni Sanchez Martinez had been hit by a vehicle and taken to a hospital where she later died from her injuries.
Police found the owner of the truck at the scene, later identified by prosecutors as Julio Navarro-Vidrio. Investigators said the left the truck running while parked at a gas pump.
A 3-year-old child was left unattended in the truck in a car seat. The toddler managed to get out and make their way to the driver’s seat, causing the truck to roll forward and hit Ailahni, who was standing near a taco stand.
Navarro-Vidrio was detained but released without charges at the time.
