WOODLAND, Calif. — A woman was sentenced to 10 years of probation on Friday for a wrong way crash on Interstate-5, the Yolo County District Attorney's Office said.
Brooklyn Johnson, 19 of Woodland, crashed head-on with another vehicle while driving the wrong way on I-5 in October of 2018, according to a news release from the Yolo County District Attorney Office's. They said a blood analysis showed that Johnson was driving with marijuana in her system.
The driver of the other car suffered severe injuries that resulted in more than $2 million in restitution, and the passengers in Johnson's car also suffered severe injuries that caused them to lose consciousness, according to district attorney's office.
In addition to 10 years of probation, Johnson will have to pay $2,577,244 for restitution. Johnson had ped No Contest to Felony Counts of driving under the influence of drugs that caused great bodily injury on multiple victims and driving the wrong way on a divided highway.
"This is an unfortunate reminder that consuming drugs is just as dangerous as alcohol when getting behind the wheel, " District Attorney Jeff Reisig said.
