Man killed in Yuba City suspected DUI crash

Police say the man was a passenger in the vehicle hit by a suspected DUI driver.

YUBA CITY, Calif. — A 27-year-old man died Sunday after a suspected DUI crash in Yuba City.

According to the Yuba City Police Department, the two-vehicle crash happened at the intersection of El Margarita Road and Highway 20 just before 9 p.m.

Police say 39-year-old Chloe Tokuno-Fraley was driving a Honda Crosstour north on El Margarita and ran through a stop sign. Police say she made a right turn around a median and began going eastbound in the westbound lanes of Highway 20.

Tokuno-Fraley collided with a Ford F150 going westbound on the highway.

Six people were in the Ford F150 at the time of the crash — five had non-life-threatening injuries and the sixth, a 27-year-old man, died from his injuries at the hospital. He has not been identified yet.

Tokuno-Fraley and a 4-year-old in her vehicle were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators say they believe Tokuno-Fraley was driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.

The investigation is ongoing and the results will be sent to the Sutter County District Attorney’s Office for charges.
