The colors blue, white and red illuminated buildings in cities around the world Thursday night, in recognition of the tragic event in Nice, France, where a truck plowed through a crowd celebrating Bastille Day, leaving over 84 people dead.
The attack followed the November terrorist attack at a Paris nightclub that killed 130 people and the January 2015 attack on the French satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo that killed 17 people.
In New York, the Helmsley Building in Manhattan displayed the French colors.
The attack in Nice comes a week after five Dallas police officers were killed by a gunman during a protest following the deaths of Alton Sterling and and Philando Castile. According to KXAS-TV, on July 8 the city of Dallas was lit with blue lights to honor the victims.
In addition to Dallas' blue lights, the city honored France Thursday night when the Omni Hotel displayed lights depicting the French flag.
Several monuments and public buildings along Mexico City's Reforma Avenue were lighted with French colors.
Among the buildings illuminated with blue, white and red was the Mexican Senate building, which displayed the French flag.
In Montreal, a predominantly French-speaking city, the City Hall was lit by the French flag.
The TAIPEI 101 skyscraper in Taipei, Taiwan, donned the French blue, white and red colors on Friday.
