WASHINGTON — YouTuber Paul Harrell, who made a name for himself posting firearms review videos, announced his own death from pancreatic cancer in a video shared on his channel.

"So if you're watching me, I'm dead," Harrell said in a video posted to his channel Tuesday that was titled "I'm Dead."

In the video, Harrell explained to viewers he was recording the message on Dec. 20, 2023, and instructed his editor Brad Nelson to post it upon his death. He was 58

He had shared with his followers in July 2023 that he had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

In the posthumous video, Harrell said that while they caught his cancer early, it wasn't as early as they thought and it spread faster than they thought.

"The final thing I would want to say is, my sincere apologies. I had hoped that I would continue in this format for the next 10 or even 15 years. And even once I was diagnosed I had hoped that we'd be here two or three more years and it's turned out to be only a few more months and my apologies for that, it really makes me feel like I've let everybody down. So, not much more to say than that," he said.

He ended the video by saying he had "very few regrets" and thanked everyone who liked, watched and subscribed to his videos.

After Harrell's message, his brother Rob Harrell read a short statement asking their followers to give them time to process Paul's death and to find the best way to honor his legacy.

As of Friday morning, the YouTube video has more than 4.2 million views.
