Target's tiny cart experiment has quickly come to an end.
A brief test of kiddie carts at 72 Target stores ended quietly this week, due to "recently reviewed guest and stores feedback," according to a Target spokesperson.
The carts, which were designed for young kids to push around the store, received quite a bit of feedback -- and based on that, the company decided to pull the plug. The carts were introduced in stores in August.
"At Target, our guests are at the center of everything we do, and we value their feedback," said Molly Snyder, Target spokeswoman.
While some saw the carts as a fun way to occupy their kiddos during a Target run, others found the carts to be too difficult to corral, leading to bruised ankles and shin bones -- sometimes at the expense of other shoppers.
The carts gained attention after a Minneapolis mommy blogger called for an end to the "Stupid Tiny Carts," in a satirical first-hand account of her nightmarish experience.
"Seeing the demise of this Target Adventure, we quickly skirted to the food section. This is where Tiny Human really starts getting into it. Look! I can push the cart and it just GOES! On its own! And when I do it right where the aisle ends, people can’t see it coming! And listen to that fun noise when other carts hit mine! THIS IS AMAZING," she wrote.
Target's certainly not the first store to introduce small carts for kids -- Trader Joe's, Lunds and the new Fresh Thyme have similar carts in their stores.
