LAS VEGAS — We know it is still tough to talk about right now with the Texans missing their chance for a slot in the Super Bowl and all, but there could be a good reason they aren't in the big game, at least if you believe the latest conspiracy theory on social media.
According to amateur sleuths, it all comes down to the colors of a team’s uniforms.
Every year the NFL releases a new logo months ahead of time for that year's Super Bowl. According to Sports Illustrated, around November someone pointed out that the past two logos were designed with the colors of the teams that ended up playing in that game. In 2021 it featured the reddish-orange of the Bengals and the bright yellow of the Rams. The next year the logo looks like it includes Eagles green and Chiefs red. Of course, those were the matchups for those Super Bowls.
But what about this season?
Well, the logo is a mix of red and purple. There are only two teams left in the running that sport those colors - the 49ers and the Ravens. The 49ers take on the Lions and the Ravens go up against the Chiefs this weekend. So we will have to wait until Sunday to see if this conspiracy theory is right.
