BAKER CITY, Ore. (AP) - One burger place is In and another is Out.
Burger fans flocked to Medford this month to celebrate the opening of Oregon's first In-N-Out Burger.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the state, the In & Out drive-in in Baker City has been sold and closed. Its old sign featuring an ice cream cone and hamburger was removed Tuesday.
Though the businesses have similar names, the California-based chain has an N between the In and Out. The Baker City business, which opened in 1954, had an ampersand.
The Baker City Herald reports the sale remains something of a mystery. Records show the billing address for property taxes belongs to a Northern California attorney.
Former owner Dale Lethlean told the newspaper he's not supposed to talk about the sale, but "it's the people who want our name.
