SACRAMENTO, California — Early election results indicate Sacramento voters are deciding not to pass Measure G, which would take money from the city's revenue fund and put it toward youth programs.
The next round of results is expected to come on Thursday.
If passed, Measure G would create a fund for youth programs, taking 2.5% of the city's revenue for this fund. The ballot initiative proposes that the city would need to create a committee comprised of mostly people under 25.
The committee would decide how the money in the fund is spent every three years, pending council approval.
Sacramento community members put Measure G on the ballot.
The approved activities for youth under 25 that are approved include:
- Mentoring
- Counseling
- Summer and after-school activities
- Early childhood education
- Family support services
