Voting centers now open in Sacramento and across the region

Sacramento joins 28 other California counties, which will allow voters the opportunity to either vote in-person or drop off their ballots days before Nov. 5.

SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif. — Early Voting Centers in Sacramento open on Saturday, October 26.

Sacramento joins 28 other California counties, which will allow voters the opportunity to either vote in-person or drop off their ballots early.

The participating counties are allowed, through the Voter’s Choice Act, to provide centralized locations for early voting. People can find the closest early voting center on this website.

Early voting centers will be open all throughout the county. For people in downtown Sacramento, the California Museum is one of the locations people can visit.  Sacramento County voting centers are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

According to ballot return data from the Secretary of State’s Office, more than 4 million vote-by-mail ballots have already been returned as of Monday, Oct. 28. Almost 190,000 ballots have been cast in Sacramento County.

“California is seeing a surge in early voting, and I expect it to continue,” said California’s Secretary of State Shirley Webber in a statement. "Given the anticipated large voter turnout, there may be longer lines and wait times on Election Day. California voters should not and do not need to wait to vote —they can vote early.”

Voters can track their ballot here. Polls close on Nov. 5 at 8 p.m.
