Harris vs Trump: Debate rules for the presidential clash on ABC

Here are the rules for the first debate between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris.

PHILADELPHIA — Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump are set for their first debate Tuesday night in Philadelphia.

The two sides agreed to the rules for the showdown about a week ago.

The campaigns previously feuded over a microphone muting policy, which mutes a candidate's microphone when it's not their turn to speak, but Harris’ campaign ultimately sent a letter to host network ABC News accepting the debate rules.

Here's what to know for the debate.

Who's the moderator?

The debate will be moderated by "World News Tonight" anchor David Muir and ABC News Live "Prime" anchor Linsey Davis.

How long is the Trump vs Harris debate?

The clash between Harris and Trump will feature about 90 minutes of debate time and two commercial breaks, according to ABC.

Are the microphones muted for the debate?

A candidate will only have their microphone live when it their turn to speak. It'll be muted when the other candidate is using their time. According to ABC, only moderators will be allowed to ask questions.

Who goes first?

According to ABC, Trump won a coin toss and was able to choose the order of statements. Trump will offer the last closing statement. Closing statements will be two minutes per candidate. There are no opening statements.

Are there time limits?

Both Trump and Harris will have two minutes to answer each question with a two-minute rebuttal. They'll have an additional minute for a follow-up, clarification or response.
