Rain, snow in the forecast starting Sunday

Rain is in the forecast starting Easter Sunday.

Two weeks into spring and after three months of almost no precipitation, it's easy to think inclement weather is over for the season.

But rain and snow are forecast for Northern California beginning Easter Sunday and Caltrans urges drivers to be prepared.

Snow levels could dip below 4,000 feet, with accumulations up to six inches at Donner Summit (Interstate 80) and Echo Summit (Highway 50) in the Sierra.

For those traveling, Caltrans says:

• Allow enough time for your trip

• Keep your gas tank full

• Keep your windshield and windows clear

• Leave enough stopping distance between vehicles

• Check vehicle headlights, fluid levels, tires, brakes and other operating systems

• Carry an emergency kit, blanket, water and a fully charged cell phone.
