2 adults, 2 children dead in suspected triple murder-suicide in San Mateo

Investigators are still gathering evidence and speaking to witnesses to determine a possible motive.

SAN MATEO, Calif. — Law enforcement in San Mateo released more information Tuesday in what’s believed to be a triple murder-suicide.

According to a news release from the San Mateo Police Department, officers were called to the 4100 block of Alameda de las Pulgas for a welfare check around 9 a.m. Monday.

Officers could not get into contact with anyone inside the home and did not find evidence of forced entry. Officers entered the home through an unlocked window and found four people dead – a man, a woman and two children.

Police say the man and woman were found dead in the bathroom from gunshot wounds while the two kids were found dead in a bedroom. The kids’ cause of death is under investigation.

A 9mm pistol and loaded magazine were found in the bathroom.

The San Mateo County Coroner hasn’t identified the deceased yet.

Police say it appears to be an isolated incident with no danger to the public as they are, ‘confident the person responsible was located within the home.’

Investigators are still gathering evidence and speaking to witnesses to determine a possible motive.
