Sacramento River Cats open 20th season with new stadium features

This will be the 20th season for the Sacramento River Cats and there will be plenty of fun-themed nights to commemorate the milestone throughout the year.

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Fans coming to Raley Field this baseball season will be treated to new features inside the stadium.

  1. The first things fans will notice is a brand new scoreboard in center field. This gorgeous videoboard is more than double the size of the old one. It's 1,296 pixels high and 1,116 pixels wide. Not to mention, its resolution is comparable to high-definition TV.
  2. The other thing fans will notice is an extended net down the baselines. Previously, the net just extended to the dugouts. The longer net will provide more safety for fans to prevent foul balls from striking them.
  3. The last thing (and arguably the most important thing) will be the brand new food items. This includes a vegan taco, consisting of refried beans, corn, red beans, meat substitute, among other ingredients. There's a fish taco (beer battered cod), a banh mi sandwich (pork), and triple play sampler, among other delicious dishes.
