Rain showers have taken over the forecast as of late. Considering just how rare it is to pick up rainfall this late in the season, one can't help but think, "have we set any rainfall records?" The answer is, yes!
Record Rainfall for Sacramento Executive Airport
On Wednesday, May 15 we picked up 1.20" for daily rainfall.
The previous record was .30" at the same time in 2000.
Could more records be broken?
Let's take a look! One record we're watching closely is how much rainfall we could pick up between May 15 and May 20. Right now we're on track to have one of the top 10 wettest days from May 15 to May 20 for Sacramento since 1877.
Considering we picked up 1.20" of rainfall on May 15t, we're already at the fourth wettest.
We have the chance for more rainfall Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Odds are, we could be looking at the second or third wettest since 1877.
More rain on the way?
FYI, long-range weather models are showing wetter than average weather for the next 8 to 14 days. So, who knows, we may be breaking a lot more rainfall records before this month ends.
