DAVIS, Calif. — Both UC Davis basketball teams fought for a spot in the NCAA Tournament Saturday after advancing to the Big West Conference Championship, but weren't able to secure one.

Dozens of Aggies fans left watch parties at Sudwerk Brewery and Woodstock’s in Davis heartbroken by both the men's and women's team being defeated tonight.

The men's team lost in a nail biting back and forth game against Long Beach State with a final score of 74-70. The women's team fell to UC Irvine 53-39.

Even with the upset, fans were looking on the brightside.

"We came a lot further than we did last year. And you look forward to what's in front of you," said Angelic Burke.

This was the men's second appearance in the Big West Conference Championship, the first being in 2017 when they advanced to the NCAA Tournament after defeating the North Carolina Central Eagles.

This was the women's seventh appearance in the Big West Championship game in program history.

Both games were held at the Dollar Loan Center in Henderson, Nevada.
