KANSAS CITY, Kan — Kansas City Chiefs pass rusher Charles Omenihu won't be playing in the Super Bowl LVIII after tearing his ACL Sunday.
Omenihu is an integral part of Kansas City's defense. He's had seven sacks while playing in 11 games during the regular season. He was out for the first six games for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy. In the postseason, Omenihu played in all three games and had one sack.
Omenihu hit Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson and caused a fumble during the first half of the AFC Championship game. However, right after the fumble, he left the game with a knee injury, which turned out to be a torn ACL.
He posted on X, formerly Twitter, a broken heart emoji on Monday.
"Thank you all for the support. God makes no mistakes. We were all a witness to my adversity earlier this year, and I came back better than ever. I promise it will be no different this time. Football, 90 will see you again till then much love to everyone and God bless," Omenihu wrote.
The San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs will face off for the second time in five years with a rematch of Super Bowl 54. Super Bowl 58 is Sunday, Feb. 11 at 3:30 p.m.
Usher, an eight-time Grammy winner, will headline the halftime show. Reba McEntire will sing the national anthem, Post Malone will sing "America the Beautiful" and Andra Day will sing "Lift Every Voice and Sing."
