DAVIS, Calif. — The UC Davis Aggies and Montana State Bobcats are both undefeated in the Big Sky Conference and will go head-to-head at 5 p.m. Saturday in Davis.
Both teams are entering week 6 of Big Sky Conference play followed by one more conference game next week.
The Aggies are 9-1 overall and 6-0 in the Big Sky Conference. This is the first time since 2021 that the Aggies have been undefeated in the Big Sky Conference.
The Bobcats are 10-0 overall and 6-0 in the conference. This is the first time in program history that the Bobcats have been 10-0.
“You’re talking about arguably the best team in the country, they’re undefeated, they have the number one offense in the country by a wide margin,” said Tim Plough, head coach of UC Davis Football, in a press conference Monday. “They have a Top 10 defense in the country by a wide margin so not a lot of weaknesses.”
Montana State finished 3rd in the Big Sky Conference 2023 season while UC Davis finished 5th. However, both teams are now competing for that #1 spot.
However, the Bobcats have had a strong season so far. Last week, they defeated the Sacramento State Hornets 49-7 in a historic win. Montana State University set a school record for seven rushing touchdowns.
UC Davis is ranked #4 in the Stats Perform Top 25 Poll and AFCA FCS Coaches Poll, and Montana State is ranked #2 in the Stats Perform Top 25 Poll and AFCA FCS Coaches Poll.

Aggies Last Week
UC Davis is coming off another strong game defeating Montana. The Aggies cruised by the Grizzlies defeating them 30-14.
This was the Aggie's second time in program history they beat Montana and the first win on a national TV network.
UC Davis was also named Stats Perform FCS National Team of The Week.
Aggies quarterback Miles Hastings finished with 227 yards passing, throwing three touchdowns on 28 of 38 passing.
Hastings is third place in program history for throwing 9,702 total passing yards during his career.
UC Davis senior running back Lan Larison totaled 145 all-purpose yards, rushing for 97 yards on 24 attempts and adding 48 yards and a touchdown on six receptions. Larison now has a total of 1,061 rushing yards.
Aggies kicker Hunter Ridley made three field goals all beyond 40 yards. Ridley now has a total of 29 made field goals in his career and ties Cal Aggie Hall of Famer Rolf Benirschke for ninth all-time in program history.
Ridley was also announced as Big Sky Conference Special Teams Player of the Week.
