SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento State Hornets will take on Northern Arizona Lumberjacks on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in Arizona at the J. Lawrence Walkup Skydome.
Both teams are looking to get their first win for the start of Big Sky Conference play. Sac State has lost two games against FBS schools San Jose State and Fresno State but played well enough to be highly ranked in the polls.
The Hornets are ranked #10 in both the Stats Peform Top 25 Poll and the AFCA FCS Coaches Poll, Northern Arizona is not ranked.
Both teams are coming into the first conference game 2-2, but looking to be 1-0.
GAME PREVIEW
Sac State is led by cornerback Elias Mullican, who is coming off a strong game against Texas A&M-Commerce where he received his first career pick that came on a fourth-down play in the first quarter.
Mullican was also named Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week.
Northern Arizona quarterback Ty Pennington, who had a solid game against Incarnate Word Cardinals last weekend, completed 20 of 35 for 247 yards.
Hornets quarterback Carson Conklin, a redshirt freshman, threw a 16-yard touchdown pass and completed 13 of 22 for 154 yards.
