GAME PREVIEW
For the first time ever, the Roseville Tigers and West Park Panthers will meet for a football game.
In 2020, West Park High School opened for their inaugural year, with just a freshman and sophomore class, but their football program has enjoyed significant success in a short period of time.
Friday, West Park High will host Roseville High School, a staple of the city since 1912. Consider it the start of the region's newest rivalry.
"I've wanted to play those guys for the last two, three years," said Roseville head coach Adam Reinking.
For the Roseville High Tigers, it's not just about reminding West Park who the legacy program is, it's about proving they are the best program in the city.
"If we can beat them, which I think we will, we will definitely be the best team in the Roseville area," said senior Dillon Johnson.
Naturally, Friday's game is expected to draw a big crowd. The West Park High Panthers feel that homefield advantage will play a major factor in the result.
"We got it all man. We got the talent, the community, love and homefield advantage," said senior Ben Osby.
(Editor's Note: An earlier version of this article had the teams transposed. West Park did win. We're sorry for the confusion.)
