2 of 3 Northern California teams secure spot in CIF's state title game

The CIF state title game is being planned for next weekend.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — With a spot in the California Interscholastic Federation's (CIF) state title game on the line, tensions are at a high point for students in Northern California as the second to last week of high school football comes to a close.

On Friday night at ABC10's Game of the Week, the Grant Union High School Pacers defeated the Rocklin High School Thunder 41 to 14. The Pacers will go on to defend their state title next week, playing against Southern California's La Serna High School Lancers.

Friday night marked the end of the season for two Northern California teams.

The Escalon High School Cougars fell to the Acalanes High School Dons with a final score of 49 to 14.

The Casa Roble Rams lost to the Soquel High School Knights in their game which ended with a final score of 42 to 14.

Despite the losses Friday night, Northern California teams put on a show Saturday night.

The Folsom High School Bulldogs took on the Pittsburg High School Pirates at home Saturday and won 28-25.

Meanwhile, the Hughson High School Huskies lost to the Palma High School Chieftains 31-21.

The Woodland Christian High School Cardinals won their state title game against the Orland High School Trojans 28-0 Saturday.

The teams will be going to Southern California for the state championship. Stay tuned for highlights during ABC10's LNT broadcast at 11 p.m.
