SACRAMENTO, Calif. — When it comes to some of the best youth athletes in the Sacramento area, they all share one thing in common: Game-Fit. It's a local athletic center dedicated to the development of athletes and pushing them to succeed.
Hundreds of local athletes have trained at Game-Fit since its inception back in 2012.
"I've been coming to Game-Fit for about seven to eight years now," said Darnell Turner, a football player at Granite Bay High School. "I got more mature coming here because of Lem (Adams). My football game has grown too. It's just made me a better person overall."
"It's a like a family here," said Rob Larson, a sophomore football player at Folsom High School. "You see how these people here, and you see how they want to see you keep working. They always want to push you to be better."
Game-Fit has been in around for 12 years and now has locations in Sacramento, Dixon and Redding. It was founded by former college and arena football player Lem Adams.
"We've established not only successful athletes, but we've established successful people," Adams said. "We've been able to transform kids who came in here not confident, low academic standards, low grades, didn't believe in themselves who are now some of not only the best athletes but best student athletes, best kids, best students."
Lem has left an indelible mark on every kid he's worked with.
"Lem's a great trainer. He gets you better at anything you want do to," said Luke Galer, a junior football player at Del Oro High School.
"He's a big piece of my football journey. From when I was a little kid to now," said Isaiah Ene, a junior football player at Granite Bay High School.
Game-Fit is open to all ages and trains athletes in a wide variety of sports.
"There's so much these kids want to accomplish for themselves, and as long as I'm able to do it and be a part, I'm going to keep grinding it out," said Adams.
