SACRAMENTO, Calif — The UC Davis Aggies and Sacramento State Hornets will finish out conference play Saturday by going head-to-head at the 70th Annual Causeway Classic.
This will also be the Hornet's senior night, and they will be recognizing 18 seniors before the start of the game. Fans will also be able to enjoy an Air Force flyover if the weather is suitable.
The Causeway Classic has been around since 1954 and is an ongoing rival game between the two teams. UC Davis has the longest win streak (1970-1987).
Last season (2023), the entire game was wet and windy but that didn’t stop the two teams from playing. During the game, quarterback Lan Larison was credited for 175 yards and four touchdowns to put the Aggies ahead defeating the Hornets 31-21, and they took home the Causeway Classic Trophy.
The Hornets have had a tough season and are looking to get a win to close out the season. Currently, the Hornets are 3-8 overall and 1-6 in the Big Sky Conference.
Meanwhile, the Aggies are 9-2 overall and 6-1 in the Big Sky Conference. The Aggie's nine-game winning streak was broken after last week’s match-up against Montana State. UC Davis will now bounce back and look to bring home a win in Saturday’s game.
The Aggies are still ranked #5 in the Stats Perform Top 25 Poll and AFCA FCS Coaches Poll. Despite the loss last week for the Aggies, playoffs will be coming up shortly after they finish their last game Saturday.
