Out of the entire NBA roster, Sabonis was named one of the 15 best players. Other players on the third team this year are LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Devin Booker and Tyrese Haliburton.

Wednesday’s honor marks Sabonis’ second consecutive season being named to the team, and he is the 10th player in franchise history to earn back-to-back All-NBA honors, according to the Sacramento Kings.

This is the Kings’ sixth All-NBA third-team selection in franchise history. The full list includes:

  • Mitch Richmond: 1995-96, 1997-98
  • Domantas Sabonis: 2022-23, 2023-24
  • Chris Webber: 1999-00

Sabonis’ feats

In 82 games during the 2023-24 season, Sabonis averaged 19.4 points, 13.7 rebounds and 8.2 assists per game while shooting 59.4% from the floor. He became the second player in NBA history to accrue averages of 19.0 points, 13.0 rebounds and 8.0 assists per contest since Wilt Chamberlain in 1967-68.

Sabonis also finished this season as the league leader in rebounds per game, total rebounds (1120), double-doubles (77) and triple-doubles (26). He ranked sixth in assists per game, fourth in total assists (673) and ninth in field goal percentage.

From Dec. 2 to April 7, Sabonis recorded 61 consecutive double-doubles, marking the seventh longest double-double streak in NBA history and the longest by any player since Chamberlain during the 1967-68 season.

With 77 total double-doubles this season, he tied the late Moses Malone for the most double-doubles in a single season since the NBA-ABA merger in 1976.

Sabonis posted his 26th triple-double of the season against the Dallas Mavericks on March 29, tied for the seventh-most triple-doubles in a single season in NBA history. He is one of five players in NBA history to total 25 or more triple-doubles in a single season and tied Oscar Robertson (1960-61, 1963-64) for the second-most triple-doubles in franchise history.

On Jan. 29, Sabonis pulled in a career-high 26 rebounds to go with 20 points and five assists on 10-of-11 shooting (90.9 FG%), joining Chamberlain as the only players in league history to total at least 20 points, 25 rebounds and five assists on 90% shooting in a game.
