Sacramento Kings introduce first round draft pick Devin Carter

Devin Carter said the Kings are getting a "winning player."

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The newest King has arrived in Sacramento. The 13th overall pick of the 2024 NBA Draft, Devin Carter, was introduced to the media on Tuesday.

Carter was selected out of Providence, where he averaged 19.7 points and 8.7 rebounds last season, on his way to earning Big East Conference Player of the Year honors.

"Super excited to be here," said Carter. "You're getting a winning player, older guy in the class, just somebody who wants to come in and work hard from day 1 and do all the dirty work."

Carter has had the chance to speak to some of the players and appreciates the hospitality.

"Everybody here is super nice. I love it out here already," said Carter. "I'm super blessed to be here. All glory to God. This is just a great experience. I'm just ready to get to work."

Carter is no stranger to the Sacramento area. His father, Anthony Carter, was an assistant coach for the Sacramento Kings back in 2015-2016.

"Throughout my whole life, I saw how he (Anthony Carter) got on the court and that was by his defense," said Carter. "It kind of gets to be repetitive when you're walking around basketball games and everybody was like 'your dad was a dog on the defensive end.' Just trying my best to mimic that."

Carter is also known for his eccentric dressing style and embraces his unique personality.

"Just to be able to make people laugh, and express who I am," said Carter. "I'm not going to change. If you like me you like me, if you don't, that's just me."

The Kings kick off their summer league this Saturday in the Cali Classic.
