SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento Kings announced Thursday they will be partnering with Granite Bay-based Reviver to place the first NBA jersey patch from a Black-founded technology company.
Beginning this season, the Reviver logo will be featured on the left front strap of player jerseys. Reviver is assisted by the Black Star Fund, which is a Black-led venture capital firm based in Sacramento.
The company will also serve as an official innovation partner for the Kings and Golden 1 Center, a presenting partner of Capitalize: Technology and the exclusive digital license plate provider for the Sacramento Kings.
“This jersey patch partnership with Reviver continues the Kings long tradition of using our global platform to promote innovation and technology,” said Sacramento Kings Owner and Chairman Vivek Ranadivé in a statement. “It’s particularly exciting to showcase a homegrown company that was part of our Kings Capitalize program. This is just the beginning of our work together, and we look forward to helping Reviver in its mission to modernize the driving experience.”
As part of this partnership, Reviver will represent the Kings Capitalize: Technology competition, which began in 2016 as the NBA’s first crowd-sourced startup competition.
Reviver participated in the fourth-annual Capitalize: Technology competition in 2019, where founder Neville Boston met with Black Star Fund Founding Managing Partner Kwame Anku.
“As an investment firm dedicated to hands-on business development to drive growth, we couldn’t be prouder to support our portfolio company, Reviver, and to have helped secure this ground-breaking partnership with the Sacramento Kings,” Anku said.
Reviver's headquarters are located in Granite Bay, where Reviver started branding the vision of a battery-powered digital license plate that can be modified and accessible through phone app.
Reviver will also support the Sacramento Kings community and diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, the company said.
