HOUSTON — In his second year in the NFL, Houston Texans quarterback CJ Stroud has turned plenty of heads with his play. Last year’s AFC Offensive Player of the Year even has the King’s attention.
Shortly after the Texans’ game against the New England Patriots started Sunday, LeBron James, who now plays for the Los Angeles Lakers, gushed about Stroud, posting to X, “Man CJ throws a beautiful ball man!! Love watching him play.”
The post to X came just about 10 minutes after kickoff as Stroud was driving the Texans down for the first of two touchdowns on the team’s first two drives of the game.
Stroud would finish the day completing 20 of 31 passes with three touchdowns and 192 yards. He came out of the game with the win well in hand, giving backup Davis Mills some playing time.
Stroud and James share an Ohio connection, of course. James is a native of Ohio and twice played for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Stroud, a California native, played his college football at the Ohio State University.
With the win – Houston’s first-ever in Foxborough – the Texans improve to 5-1 on the season, two games ahead of the second place Colts in the AFC South.
James has a big social media following, including more than 53M on X. Many of them agreed with the King.
