BUFFALO, N.Y. — Orchard Park Police says Buffalo Bills fans can expect limited parking due to a massive amount of snow.
Police Chief Patrick Fitzgerald said "there will be limited parking compared to what we have for regular season games. There's going to be difficulties that are faced not just with the weather that we had, but the weather that we will be having, it's going to be bitterly cold. "
Pedestrians are urged to use caution around the stadium.
"Keeping pedestrians apart from vehicular traffic is always difficult. There's going to be a lot of snow that's going to be out there that's going to be pushing pedestrians probably more into the roadways than what we would normally otherwise have. The parking lots are going to open at their normal times before kickoff. But what we're asking is that fans do not show up too early," said the police chief.
When fans show up well before the stadium lots open, police say roads are blocked and it can hamper snow removal.
"The clock is ticking," Fitzgerald told 2 On Your Side. "We do not have a lot of time from when the last snow drops until kickoff or in this case until parking lots open to get that snow moved out. So showing up way too early and sitting on the side of our public highways, blocking the roads isn't going to do anything to help us out."
The Bills and Steelers kick off at 4:30 p.m. Monday at Highmark Stadium in an AFC wild card game.
