SACRAMENTO, Calif. — San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs fans are gearing up for Super Bowl Sunday by flying out of Sacramento and heading straight down to Las Vegas.
Shawna West, a Chiefs fan from Kansas City who now lives in Sacramento, says she’s normally surrounded by 49ers fans. That may change when she’s in Las Vegas this week and while she isn’t going to the game, she’s excited to feel the energy in the city.
"I’ll be staying in the hotel where the players are staying, so I’ll get a chance to be that close to them and the whole vibe and all," she said.

For others, it's been a trip long in the making.
"I’ve been planning for the past four months. I thought that was kind of planning too far ahead, but it was well worth it. It paid off and I’m very excited to go," said Gurpreet Takhar, a 49ers fan from Yuba City going to the Super Bowl.
He says he’s been a Niners fan since he was 6-years-old and is hoping for a life highlight:
"I'm ready to see that confetti. That would be one of the most epic moments that I could describe, ever, and I’m ready for that," he said. "Please let's get that W."
