49ers, Lions fans preparing for potentially historic game at Levi's Stadium

The West Coast is meeting the Midwest in Sunday’s showdown.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — The 49ers are playing the Detroit Lions Sunday at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, bringing tens of thousands of fans to see who’s heading to the Superbowl.

“This is our year, to win the championship, the Super Bowl, this is our year right now,” said one 49ers fan.

The West Coast is meeting the Midwest in Sunday’s showdown.

"The last time the lions won a championship I was 9 years old, and I've been a loyal fan since 1950,” said a Lion’s fan. “I've been waiting for this for a long long time.”

The Lions have never made a Super Bowl appearance, making many fans flock to the Bay Area. So many, in fact, that Delta Airlines had to use a bigger airplane to seat more flyers — and create a direct flight from Detroit to San Francisco.

It’s also making some people go into work later to catch the game. According to a spokesperson for General Motors Flint Assembly Plant, they’re delaying the start time for their third shift so night workers can still get the hype of the game.

Though the demand is high, resale tickets are still available through Ticketmaster. Though it may cost you a few thousand dollars depending on where you want to sit. See tickets HERE

VividSeats, a ticket resale company for major events, estimated about 22% of the stadium will be Lions fans.

If the Lions win Sunday’s game, it’d be the first time in history the team heads to the Superbowl. The 49ers are favored to win against the Lions in the NFC game, with the current spread having them projected to win by a touchdown with 51 points to be scored on both sides.
