LAS VEGAS — The San Francisco 49ers will be wearing white jerseys in Super Bowl LVIII against the Kansas City Chiefs at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
In the Super Bowl, one team wears a white road jersey the other team wears its home colors. This year, the 49ers will don a white road jersey and the Chiefs will be dressed in home red uniforms. The teams are wearing the same colors that they wore when they met in 2020 at Super Bowl LIV in Miami.
The NFL announced the decision Tuesday, saying the Chiefs are the home team for the game and got to choose what jersey to wear.
The San Francisco 49ers posted on X, formerly Twitter, showing Christian McCaffrey's #23 jersey, revealing the Niners will be wearing white in Super Bowl 58. Another video posted on X showed the jerseys being made with the Super Bowl logo sewn onto the left side of the jersey. The Kansas City Chiefs also posted on X showing Patrick Mahomes' #15 jersey with the patches freshly sewn.
The 49ers have been in seven Super Bowls so far with a 5-2 record. The team has worn white in three appearances so far with the game against the Chiefs making it their fourth Super Bowl appearance in white jerseys.
Here's a breakdown of what color the 49ers wore in each Super Bowl appearance and the results. They are 2-1 wearing white.

The Chiefs are 2-1 wearing red in the Super Bowl. They won with red in Super Bowl IV and LIV but lost wearing it in Super Bowl LV.
