CALIFORNIA, USA — As the San Francisco 49ers are facing off in a second Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs, some people may feel a bit of déjà vu — and not just because of football.
In 2020, Democrat Joe Biden defeated President Donald Trump to become the 46th president of the United States and in 2024, voters will see a familiar race.
In 2020, voters could cast their votes for Joe Biden and Donald Trump and the Kansas City Chiefs took on the 49ers in the Super Bowl. Four years later, people will just have to wait and see if a repeat of 2020 is on its way.
2024 Super Bowl
The countdown is on for the 49ers and Chiefs to face off in the Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas.
As Patrick Mahomes tries to cement back-to-back Super Bowl victories, Brock Purdy will try to quiet the haters once and for all as he tries to replace his Mr. Irrelevant title for MVP.
2024 Presidential Primary
Trump’s win in Nevada gives him all 26 of the state’s delegates. He needs to accrue 1,215 delegates to formally clinch the party’s nomination and could reach that number in March.
Trump currently has 63 delegates to Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley's 17. From Nevada, the GOP contest pivots to the South Carolina primary Feb. 24.
2020 Super Bowl
Down 20-10 late in the 4th quarter against the San Francisco 49ers, Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs rattled off 21 points in the final 6:13 to win Super Bowl LIV, 31-20. It was the Chiefs' first title in 50 years and Andy Reid's first championship in 21 years as an NFL head coach.
After making it to the Super Bowl LIV against the Kansas City Chiefs, the 49ers went on to have a losing record during the 2020 season.
2020 Presidential Election
In February 2020, Biden crossed the winning threshold of 270 Electoral College votes with a win in Pennsylvania. His victory came after more than three days of uncertainty as election officials sorted through a surge of mail-in votes that delayed processing.
Meanwhile, Trump is still facing trial charges from the 2020 election. A federal appeals panel ruled Feb. 6 that Donald Trump can face trial on charges that he plotted to overturn the results of the 2020 election, rejecting the former president’s claims that he is immune from prosecution.
