COLUMBUS, Ohio — Come Sunday, the Bosa family will be in their seats and their stomachs in knots as they cheer on the San Francisco 49ers as they compete in the Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Nick Bosa anchors the 49ers' defense and will attempt to get revenge on the Chiefs who beat San Francisco two years ago 44-23.
Cheryl Bosa says every game makes her anxious and says she gets so nervous to watch her son play that she can’t eat during the game. But there's a ritual Nick does before every game.
"He always, without fail, calls me two and a half hours before kickoff on game day. It's a two-second phone. It's 'I love you, I'm thinking of you, I'll see you after the game', but it's always without fail," she said.
Cheryl's other son, Joey, plays in the NFL for the Los Angeles Chargers.
She said the whole family will be in Las Vegas to watch the game, but they won’t be sitting in the suite. At $10,000 she says that’s not feasible. She says it’s disappointing that tickets are so expensive for the game which prevents the fans of the teams from attending.
“They probably won't be a fan in the stadium because who can afford it? It's out of control. The prices are ridiculous. It's a spectacle and it's fantastic. Don't get me wrong; it does make me sad for the fans that there won't be fans there” Cheryl said.
Bosa was the Defensive Player of the Year in 2023
He was the second overall player drafted in the 2019 NFL draft.
The Super Bowl airs on 10TV on Sunday. Coverage begins at 11:30 a.m. Kick-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
