DAVIS, Calif. — There are 131 Californian athletes who qualified for and are heading to Paris for the 2024 Olympic Games. America's Olympic team, Team U.S.A., includes 10 athletes from the Greater Sacramento region.
Here’s a look at runner Fiona O'Keeffe from Davis.
O'Keeffe, 26, will compete in Track and Field during the Olympics. She attended Davis High School and set a U.S. Marathon Trials record in her 2024 debut with a time of 2:22:10. The previous record was 2:25:38 set by Shalane Flanagan in 2012 in Houston, according to AP.
"Feeling so grateful that my stars aligned on the right day," she said in an Instagram post. "I’m so humbled to feel all the love and support from the crowds in Orlando and everyone after."
