DAVIS, Calif. — There are 131 Californian athletes who qualified for and are heading to Paris for the 2024 Olympic Games. America's Olympic team, Team U.S.A., includes 10 athletes from the Greater Sacramento region.
Here’s a look at Paralympian Mark Barr from Davis.
Barr, 37, will compete in the Triathlon during the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games. Though he's swimming, biking and running now, he previously competed in swimming for Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games.
He attended Davis Senior High School while in Davis and lost his leg to bone cancer while he was a teenager. He's also a registered nurse in the trauma surgical ICU, according to his Olympic's bio.
