SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Albert Ochoa is stepping out of his comfort zone and into the boxing ring. The 22-year-old Sacramento boxer is in final preparations for an upcoming match.
"I feel like I can do it," Ochoa said. "So I spoke it into existence, because I'm a big believer of that. I lost 50 to 60 pounds. I'm putting in the work, and I believe in myself."
Ochoa is still rather new to the sport, but he's being trained by Sacramento's own Tony "The Tiger" Lopez, who's a three-time boxing world champion himself.
"He did better than expected," said Lopez, regarding working with Ochoa. "As a trainer, when you do better than expected, it makes you want to train them better and harder."
Ochoa will be fighting in a celebrity boxing match on pay-per-view. If you're wondering how Ochoa is a celebrity, he went to prom with one of the most famous women on the planet, Kylie Jenner, and that landed him in a reality show called "Life of Kylie." The show shot him into fame, and he has amassed over 228,000 followers on Instagram.
Even with the fame, Ochoa means business when it comes to boxing.
"I kept pushing. I kept believing in myself. I didn't let the haters and what people say about me affect me," he said.
Ochoa will fight actor/professional wrestler Mike Mazza on Saturday, June 11.
