STOCKTON, Calif. — MMA legend and Stockton's own Nick Diaz is set for an unexpected return to the octagon.
In a tweet, UFC President Dana White announced Diaz will be on the card for UFC Fight Night in Abu Dhabi.
Diaz will return in a welterweight brawl against the No. 14-ranked Vicente Luque.
Notably, Diaz hasn't fought in the UFC since September 2021, when he lost a fight against Robbie Lawler.
While Diaz has never been a champion in UFC, he holds a fighting record of 26-11-0, including 13 wins by knockout and 8 wins by submission.
On Instagram, Diaz's only comment about the match was simply, "WAR."
The return match will take place on Saturday August 3.
