With system software update v2.50, Sony is adding social networking enhancements and what the company calls "anticipated features" to its PlayStation 4 video game console.
Set for release on March 26, the update will add a suspend/resume feature that enables gamers to jump in and out of their games quickly and pick up where they left off, as well as the ability for PS4 users to back-up and restore their console's hard drive via an external USB drive.
Sony is also adding more social tools by making it easier to connect gamers to one another. For example, players will be able to search for Facebook friends with their linked account. Also, the way players will be able to share trophy information to Facebook, Twitter or via message by pressing the SHARE button on their DualShock 4 controllers.
Other features being added or updated with software update v2.50 include upping the frame rate of remote/share play titles to a max 60fps; verified accounts for game industry professionals, and the ability to upload gameplay videos to Dailymotion.com by pressing the SHARE button.
