CARMICHAEL, Calif. — Nine people were hurt, two critically, in a Carmichael crash involving two cars Thursday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash happened in the 5000 block of Cypress Avenue near Walnut Avenue just after 2 p.m., according to Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District.
Two minors were transported with critical injuries but are now stable, according to CHP. Their ages are unknown and officials say they were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. The conditions and ages of the other seven people are also unknown at this time.
CHP says one car was being driven by an 18-year-old man with four occupants northbound on Walnut Avenue. Another car was being driven by a man with two adults and a teen and was heading southbound.
CHP says one of the cars ran a red light, but they aren't sure which one yet. An investigation is ongoing and CHP says drugs and alcohol are not suspected factors in the crash. No further information is currently available.
