PATTERSON, Calif. — A portion of Interstate 5 Southbound at Ingram Creek Road will be fully closed for the weekend of Oct. 4. Detours will be required and motorists should expect delays of at least 30 minutes.
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is closing the freeway for at least 55 hours to reconstruct the aging bridge deck. The closure is planned to begin at 9 p.m. and go until 4 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 7.
Detour Information from Caltrans:
- Travelers on Southbound I-5 exit southbound Highway 33 > southbound Rogers Road > westbound Sperry Ave. > return to southbound I-5
- Travelers on Eastbound I-580 continue to southbound I-5 > diverted off I-5 at Ingram Creek Road, where the on and offramps will be used as a single lane.
- Delays are also expected on westbound Highway 132; drivers are advised to use Highway 120 as an alternate route.
- Caltrans will utilize flaggers and portable message signs to alert motorists of the detours and delays.
The agency said a full closure is necessary to ensure the safety for both the maintenance crews and the public.
In the lead-up to the closure, Ingram Creek Road will be switched to one-way traffic from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. as crews perform nighttime preparations.
Schedules are subject to change.
