TRUCKEE, Calif. — Drivers on I-80 eastbound may experience some traffic delays on Friday morning after a semi-truck collided with a bear.
According to a California Highway Patrol traffic report, a semi-truck and a pickup truck both hit the bear near Hinton Road. The semi-truck ripped an airline and was partially in one of the lanes, prompting CHP to close that lane as of 4:50 a.m. in order to clear the big rig off the road.
The bear's condition is unknown, but he has been moved to the center divide according the the report. There is no information on the condition of the drivers of either the big rig or the pickup truck.
CHP also said in the report that another vehicle in the area also hit something, but did not follow-up on what that collision involved.
There are no other details at this time, and it is unknown when CHP will open that eastbound lane on I-80 back up.
