CALIFORNIA, USA — The first of two atmospheric rivers hitting California is slowly pushing out of the state, but not without bringing scattered rain and snow showers to the Northern California region Friday.
Lingering snow showered in the Sierra are causing impacts to travel, according to Caltrans. Eastbound Interstate 80 at Applegate is closed to all semitrucks.
With the wet and snowy weather comes intermittent chain controls as well, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Chain controls
- I-80 westbound is R2 from the Donner Lake interchange to Alta
- I-80 eastbound is R2 from Alta to the Donner Lake interchange
Trucks are at minimum restrictions.
