CALIFORNIA, USA — A pedestrian was killed on Interstate 5 near Kettelman City on Monday morning while leaving the scene of a crash, CHP officers said.
The CHP says the man who was killed was involved in a two-vehicle accident near Quebec Avenue on I-5. Officers with the Coalinga section of California Highway Patrol tried to take the driver into custody but he ran toward the northbound lanes.
The CHP says, the driver got off the dirt median and crossed directly in the path of a Nissan driven by a 33-year-old man from Fair Oaks. That driver tried to swerve to prevent the crash.
As the crash is still under investigation, officers have not yet released the deceased driver's name but says he is from Chico.
